Research Area:

  1. Membrane separation ( bipolar membrane electrodialysis , pervaporation , membrane distillation, etc )

  2. Bipolar membrane electrodialysisis a newly developed electrodialysis process. I am interested in the following aspects of bipolar membrane process: production of organic acids from their salts; conversion of salts to their corresponding acids and base; recovery of eletrolytes from waste water; mass transfer mechanism in bipolar membrane process; and preparation of bipolar membranes.

  3. Pervaporation is also a new membrane process for the separation of organics. It can be used in the dehydration of organic solvent, in the removal of organic contaminant from waster water, and in the separation of organic/organic mixtures. I am interested in the following aspects of pervaporation: preparation of membranes from polymers and hybrid material from organic and in-organic; mass transfer in pervaporation membranes; and hybrid processes of pervaporation with other processes, such as distillation and reaction.
